Lots of women love to wear makeup, but yet with the frigid cold weather, it seems that we have to forgo some of the things we love, simply because our makeup will dry out our skin.  No more!  With these simple beauty hacks, you can adapt your makeup for this cold time of year!

 

To make your foundation more hydrating:

 

CoverGirl’s Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation, $8, Garnier’s 2 in 1 Wrinkle Reducer Serum & Moisturizer, $15, or L’oreal’s Visible Lift Serum Absolute Foundation, $14

For dry skin, sometimes a moisturizer isn’t enough.  Combine your foundation with a serum for a boost of hydration!  Or, get a foundation that already has serum in it!

Tip: Before applying, place some foundation on the back of your hand & mix in a few drops of serum.  Apply with a makeup brush / sponge.

 

-For a more moisturizing eye shadow:

 

Boot’s Botanic Hydrating Eye Cream, $16, H&M Eyeshadow, $7 each

Powder eyeshadows can leave your skin dry; instead of forgoing your favorite eyeshadow, you can make your own creamy shadow by combining it with some eye cream!

Tip: Scrap some eye shadow into a clean spoon, & mix with some eye cream.  Add more shadow until you reach the color & consistency you desire.

 

-A non drying lipstick:

Boots No7 Stay Perfect Lip Stain, $10, Aquaphor Lip Repair With SPF 30, $4

Matte lipsticks, or lip stains can be drying in general.  If you have an absolute favorite color, make it more hydrating by putting on a hydrating lip balm underneath.

Mixing tip: You can make your own hydrating lip stain by combining equal parts lipstick into an empty lip balm container.  (You can get those in travel sized kits)  Place both in a microwavable container, & microwave for 30 seconds & mix.  Let it cool, & then apply with a lip brush!

 

-Make your blush more moisturizing:

Maybelline’s Fit Me Blush, $6, OGX Hydrating Argan Oil, $7

Now that your foundation is hydrating, make sure your cheeks are just as moisturized!  Combine your blush with a face oil!

Mixing tip: Put 4 or 5 drops of oil into a small plate / container.  Scrape the top layer of the powder blush into the oil & mix, the consistency should be creamy, not watery.  Apply with a makeup brush!
