Surprisingly, I don’t collect mascara. I have a few drugstore brands; the other ones I happen to get as free samples from Sephora, or Ulta, it came in a makeup set I bought. So I’m inadvertently collecting mascara. And I don’t even wear it that often! Here from the drugstore brands all the way up to the high end, are my before & after pictures & reviews.
First me, without any mascara:
The mascaras, reviews, before & after pictures:
Rimmel’s Extra Wow Lash Building Mascara, $4
This mascara’s only $4?! Wow! Pretty good for a budget fave! My grade: B+
Maybelline’s Volum’Express Colossal Waterproof Mascara, $7
Quite good for a $7 mascara! Another great mascara to get if you’re on a tight budget. My Grade: B
L’oreal Butterfly Intenza Waterproof mascara, $9
A great mascara! Really thickens & makes your lashes appear fuller! New on the market, it was the wand that piqued my interest in getting it. Great for a drugstore brand! My Grade: A
CoverGirl’s Bombshell Mascara, $12
I actually got this as a free gift from Ulta! & it came with a makeup bag too! This strange mascara has 2 ends: one for just adding mascara, the other end for curling. It does make a bit of a mess on your eyelids, so be prepared to have a q tip & some makeup remover. My Grade: C
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, $23
Despite the silly name, this is actually my favorite mascara. Don’t feel like spending $21 on a mascara? They quite often sell this mascara in sets, like the actual size with a travel size for $23, (which is a better deal!), mini lip gloss with mini mascara, $15, or get it in a makeup set for $25! My Grade: A+
Makeup Forever’s Smoky Extravagant Mascara, $24
A decent mascara, but doesn’t really thicken. They also have a travel size for $12 if you’d like a smaller version, or just to try it out. It does separate the lashes & is kind of a basic mascara. My Grade: B-
Marc Jacob’s O Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara, $26
A really good mascara! Again, another light delicate mascara. My Grade: A
Guerlain’s Maxi Lash So Volume Mascara, $30
This is also a really delicate mascara. Not for the girls looking for plumped volumized eyelashes. My Grade: A-
Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes Mascara, $31
Oh my gosh I love this wand! It makes putting on mascara really a breeze! I saw the new fangled thing & wondered, how do you put it on? You can put it on however you want to! The 360 degree allows you to put it on at any angle you desire! For me this is great to apply to my lower lashes (because they’re so teeny) My Grade: A
Giorgio Armani’s Black Ectasy Mascara, $32
Yet again, another delicate mascara. Good, but nothing exciting to rave about. My Grade: A-
Verdict? Most mascaras do essentially the same thing; regardless of the things they brag about. The higher end ones tend to be more delicate & fine; whereas the drugstore brands tend to be thicker & give more volume. The best ones that I recommend? For the budget friendly ones, I recommend getting L’oreal Butterfly Intenza Waterproof mascara and Rimmel’s Extra Wow Lash Building Mascara are good ones. For the high end mascaras? Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, and Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes Mascara are good ones as well. Love mascara? Check back for I’ll add more reviews & pictures when I get more!
