The Secret tool of makeup artists..

Above: Sephora’s blockbuster palette

Get a makeup palette!  I don’t know why girls only buy these tiny palettes that have only like 2 colors in them.  Whether you’re an amateur or a professional, you’ll need a makeup palette.
Sephora makes great ones, however they are usually limited edition and sold mostly during the holiday season.  BUT if you do get your hands on one, they’re usually quite affordable.  The color festival blockbuster that you see above, was about $50.  (Details: it came with 72 colors of eyeshadow, 28 lipglosses, 8 blushes, and 18 cream eyeliners)  Is that not a good deal?  They do sell the sephora makeup palettes (once they’ve been sold out) on places like ebay & amazon, but remember, these are limited editions & people are out for a profit & will sell them at hiked up prices.

I also have an older Sephora makeup palette called ‘Colorplay’ which gave you the option to ‘pop out’ the make up trays & gave you a little case to carry it in, which gave it a nice portability feature, that I quite liked.  At the time, it was only about $30.  I don’t like the idea if I have to travel, worrying about my makeup palette in my luggage, being knocked around with other suitcases on the airplane.
If you do miss out on the Sephora palettes, then the next best thing would be to go to Ulta.  They have a few makeup palettes there, but I have found quite a few on this website called bluescandal.com.  They start at around $20, and the palettes there can be HUGE.

Another affordable option: Real Techniques makeup brush set at Ulta.com, $18

This also where those makeup brush sets come into play, whether you get them from Sephora or Target.  And why get one, you ask?
Why not feel like a professional?  Every time I open mine I feel like a little girl who’s getting able to play as a makeup artist.   And for every time you have a special occasion or when you go out, you have all the colors of the rainbow to choose from.  There was a period in my life when I had only brown & gray eyeshadows to use.  It got boring really quickly, I will say.
And then finally how to put it on?  There are countless videos on youtube of girls showing you how to use makeup, i.e. look like this famous person, etc. There are lots of tutorials & pics on makeupgeek.com, & videos done by professionals on Sephora.com.  If you check them out, they are really resourceful.  Play with makeup like a pro!  Check below for the link for tutorials.

Tip: Don’t overdo it.  If you go for smoky eyes, go with a light color on the lips.  And vice versa.  If you wear red or a dark shade lip stick, then go light on the eyes.
