as Bliss would say, “Buttah bing!!” In my first post, I’ll be writing about body butter & how it saves my skin.
Especially in the winter seasons, it has been my saving grace. I have horribly dry skin this time of year, & I find it super moisturizing. Once I put it on, I can wait a few days before I need to reapply again. I can’t say for everyone but for me I find the best time to moisturize is right before I go to bed.
Tip: for your legs, either roll up your pants or wear shorts before applying. Allow the cream to dry or you’ll get it all over your clothes / sheets. And for the soles of the feet: put on the body butter RIGHT before you go to sleep.
I mostly use it for my hands, legs, & feet, & that’s about it. Now which ones do I recommend…? I have made a new affordable discovery at Sephora (1 of my favorite stores ever) and they have a ‘Supreme Body Butter’ on their own label, their LARGE jar (15.8 oz), which could last you all year, would be $25.

Either that, or any of the body butters at The Body Shop. My personal favorites are grapefruit scented, & moringa. Only be careful at the body shop for not all products are created equal. There are products that are oily than others; make sure to ask first before you buy them. Don’t feel like buying a big jar? They have the small travel sized jars (which I prefer) which are usually 2 for $10.
BUT The body shop has sales all the time, all the time, all the time, so it’s just a matter of waiting for a good deal. Sometimes their sales are 50% off, buy 3 get 3 free, etc. The regular size jar (which is 6.75 oz) is $20, but like I said, wait for that sale! They have a new sale every week! Right now their sale is 50% off, so you could buy it now for $10!! And I love the stuff, more than any other lotion I’ve tried. When my skin is dry & itchy, I slather it on before bed; and I wake up in the morning with my skin feeling refreshed.

A new body butter on the market:
Shea Moisture Olive & Green Tea Body Butter, $9
Says it’s anti-aging and ultra moisturizing. I’ve tried Olive oil scented lotion & I thought it would be strange but it actually has a sweet smell. This one actually smells more like green tea than all the other scents in it. If you would like, Shea Moisture makes a shower gel & bubble bath as well, for extra moisture.
Another great moisturizer: Baby oil gel. Some women like baby oil as a moisturizer (like Victoria Beckham) but I managed to find a baby oil gel at my dollar store that’s NOT greasy. When you put it on, put on a dot and try to spread it out as far as you can. (So it doesn’t feel as oily)
Other new things I’ve recently discovered: Nivea in shower body lotion which only costs $6! This is great stuff, you shower normally, slather the stuff on, & then rinse it off. They warn you only not to put them on the bottom of your feet, & to rinse the tub/shower thoroughly afterwards. This is a god send because I hate constantly reapplying lotion. Why not a 2 in 1 process in the shower?

Another god send: spray on vaseline! I managed to find it for about $4 a bottle, on Amazon it’s about $8. You spray it on & rub it in; the texture is almost like sunblock, & it’s definitely what it says it does! (Not greasy!)
I do believe in well maintained hands & feet. Remember you’ll be wearing the same skin your whole life so you should protect it.
Brava amy!!!
